The following material lists are provided by the artists.  To enhance your art holiday experience, it is advisable to wear old clothing. 

Watercolour Materials - Bonnie Steinberg

Paints (Artist Quality) of choice
Minimum palette - permanent rose, cobalt blue & aureolin yellow or 6 or more colours (2 reds, 2 yellows. 2 blues) PLEASE NOTE: students are always invited to bring the colours that they always use or especially want to learn to use.

Suggested colours: aureolin yellow, scarlet lake, cerulean blue, raw sienna, burnt sienna, cobalt blue, winsor red, alizarin crimson (permanent), Quinacrodone gold, opera, permanent rose, winsor blue (red shade and/or green shade, winsor violet, french ultramarine blue, new gamboge or indian yellow, veridian green.

Brushes:  Suggested sizes:  2" Robert Simmons white-sable-skyflow wash (optional), 1" flat good sable-clear hand, beveled end, #5 & #8 round gold sable, #3 or #4 rigger, #16 (1/2" x 1/2") flat gold sable (this is a lifting brush), 2" hake

Paper:  good quality 100% rag paper, 140 lb and/or 300 lb (hot smooth and cold press board if paper is in sheets, and if not, blocks are suggested.

Palatte - (Robert E Woods or John Pike or equivalent, scrub each paint compartment (not mixing areas) with an SOS pad to rough up the surface so that the paint will stick.

2 plastic containers(500 ml), eraser (kneaded), masking fluid eraser, tissues (Kleenex), HB or 6B pencils, masking tape and masking fluid, folding chairs for plein air painting (optional), small natural silk sponge (Curry's has these and so does Shopper's Drug Mart), sketch book, ruler or set square for drawing.

Course Materials for Participants in Transformational Journal Writing - Dianne Hicks Morrow
Welcome to this participatory workshop.  Because I want it to meet your needs, please don’t hesitate to e-mail any questions you may have ahead of time to me at: dianne.morrow@rogers.com

Please bring with you:
-     a journal/notebook with lots of empty space (whatever size/format appeals to you)

-     extra paper, pens, pencils, in a variety of colours

-     if you wish, any of your old journals n  if you wish, up to 10 pages of writing you are working on (optional, not necessary)

-     up to six favourite photographs from your childhood

-     up to three objects that have enough significance in your life that you’d like to write about the memories they spark (anything from a milk pitcher to a doorknob, or a coat button, or a bell, or a ball

-     comfortable walking shoes for outdoor writing exercises and either a cushion or light lawn chair to sit on, as well as a hard surface (clip board, stiff folder) to use towrite on your lap

Acrylic Painting Materials - j'anna jacqulyn

Required will be at least two 16 x 20 canvas (more if you wish).  Also acceptable is primed (with white gesso) watercolour paper or primed masonite board, the same size as the canvas.  Artist's quality pigment - I recommend Golden Heavy Body. brushes. palette, one dollar store refrigerator container about 10" x 14" will suffice.  Cotton rags, water container, paper towel, sketch book and pencil (for note taking and reference drawing), one spray water bottle and heavy butcher paper or freezer wrap or aluminum foil for your palette.  Pigments: Ultramarine Blue, Phthalo Blue, Titanium White, Burnt Sienna, Yellow Ochre, Quinacridone Magenta.  (All materials can be purchased from Currys.com on-line store.  Curry's delivers to your home free of charge for purchases of $35 or more.

Pen and Ink - Marta Scythes

Micron Pigma black ink pens (2):  sizes - 005 and 01 (or old style liquid ink, pen & nibs are fine), - sketch pad medium size, - pencils (soft and hard), eraser and ruler, 18 x 24" newsprint pad, drawing board and clip, masking tape.

You may do the whole course solely in pen and ink, but if you are interested in the Watercolour element, please bring the following:  watercolour pencils or watercolours (tubes) Pentel brand are OK,  Suggested brushes:  #6 rigger, #12 round and 3/4" flat wash brush.  Also, hot and cold pressed paper (can buy 1/4 or 1/2 sheets from instructor), large mixing palette, plastic water containers (2), stiff plywood drawing board, white paper towel.

Song Writing with Dave Archibald

Musical instruments welcome but not necessary.  $5.00 for blank CD.

Beyond the Basics of Digital Photography - Winston Maund

Digital camera and handbook.  Participants should have a small supply of recordable CD's and DVD's, a USB flash drive (2 to 4GB).  Having a laptop computer would be a great asset.  A tripod is a must.  Optional is neutral density/polarizing filter if you own a DSLR camera.  At least two digital film cards 2 to 4 GB in size.  You will be responsible to pay for a series of prints and enlargements over the five day session.
